How can I integrate intranet sources into the chatbot?
Hi everyone,
I currently have the problem that a lot of information that would be very important for the chatbot is stored on our company's intranet.
I would now like to integrate this information and content into the chatbot.
Hence my question:
Is it possible to include intranet content our sources in the voiceflow chatbot and if so, how?
I have tried to store the intranet pages as links in the knowledge base, but the chatbot does not access them when a question is asked.
Is it even possible to integrate the intranet sources into the knowledge base or do I have to use another option for the integration of the intranet sources, such as an API connection or the API development function in the model?
I would be very grateful for any help.

Integrating intranet content into your Voiceflow chatbot can be a bit tricky due to the private nature of intranet networks. Currently, Voiceflow's Knowledge Base feature supports data sources such as URLs, Plain text, Sitemaps, PDFs, and Docx files. However, these sources need to be publicly accessible on the internet for Voiceflow to access and process them. Intranet pages, being private and typically inaccessible from the public internet, may not be directly usable as data sources in the Knowledge Base.
If you've tried adding your intranet pages as URLs in the Knowledge Base and found that the chatbot isn't accessing them, it's likely due to the aforementioned accessibility issue. The Knowledge Base can't fetch and process data from URLs that it can't reach.
As for integrating intranet content via an API, Voiceflow does support custom API integrations. However, this would require your intranet system to have an API that's accessible from the public internet, which might not be the case or desirable due to security reasons.
One potential workaround could be to periodically export relevant data from your intranet and upload it to the Knowledge Base as Plain text, PDF, or Docx files. This would allow the chatbot to access and use the data while keeping your intranet secure. However, this might not be ideal if your intranet data changes frequently or if you have a large amount of data to process.

You can also just add the data via text / pdf files within the KB.
