Possible to change modalities after assistant is created?

Hi! Was hoping I could get my flow down in text and then change it to voice, but I don't see a way to access that setting. Could someone confirm this is or isn't possible? Related question: If I can't change this, I thought I'd create a new asst with voice modality and then copy clone link from my text project into voice project, but doesn't seem that works either. Just looking for comfirmation if anyone has it--thank you!

Unfortunately, once an assistant is created in Voiceflow, you cannot change its modality. The modality, whether it's voice or chat, is determined at the time of creation and cannot be altered afterwards. This is because each modality has access to different steps, design/publish-aspects, and features according to the native functionality of the modality you are designing for. For instance, voice channels will have Speak steps while chat channels have Text steps. As for your second question, the clone link feature in Voiceflow is designed to create an exact copy of your assistant, including its modality. Therefore, you cannot use it to change the modality of an assistant. When you use the clone link, it creates a snapshot of your assistant at the time you copy the link, including its modality, and this cannot be changed. If you want to create a voice assistant based on a chat assistant, you would need to create a new voice assistant and manually recreate the flow from your chat assistant. I understand this might not be the most convenient solution, but currently, it's the only way to switch modalities.

Voice is no longer natively supported. You could have your assistant talk using something like eleven labs.

OH! Thank you. Will check it out. Hah a good lesson in company name convention. Wonder if VF would still choose a name with "voice" in it today. 🙃
