Credit usage

Before credits there were tokens. You got 100,000 per month. An simple LLM would use around 150 tokens. Thats it. Then you switched it to 100 credits and make each message the user sends, whether thats a button click or a "Thanks" consume one credit. I will not be using voiceflow with this insane pricing anymore.

Hey @Eryk1 , everything above was on the free plan. Sorry to hear you're frustrated here, we're trying to make billing easier to understand and follow. We have not changed the price of LLMs, it's still tokens under the hood and you can see it in the debugging. We do not make any money on LLM tokens, so we're doing a lot of work to try and optimize LLM token consumption for customers. Voiceflow makes $0.005 per chat message, or $0.05/minute of Voice AI, those are the only 2 places we make money. It's true we have restricted the free plan as we need to focus on helping paid customers build great Agents

I canceled my subscription today after almost year of using voiceflow for the same reason. Also the fact that its only subcription with fixed tokens that resets next month even if you dont use all of those tokens is pretty bad and expensive for clients.. I understand this pay plan for developers, but for clients as well when using those agents in their businesses is way too expensive and ineffective..

Sorry to hear that @Filip - we have some changes coming on the LLM side to do an overhaul of optimizations which should help customers spend less tokens. We also have a pay as you go refresh option coming which will allow for automatic top-ups on the current plan you're on. TLDR - we're working on making Agents consume less tokens, this isn't a voiceflow specific problem but just building agents in general - we're going to implement things like prompt caching, and potentially memory summarization so that less tokens get consumed. The credits change is not what's causing more tokens to be consumed, it's actually Agents and tool calls as they hold their own memory which expands the prompt being sent Sent you a DM to learn more
