Hi there! It sounds like you're encountering an issue where your buttons aren’t appearing as expected. Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try:
• Verify the Button Step is on your canvas. Make sure you’ve dragged the Button Step from the toolbar onto your flow.
• Open the Button Editor by clicking on the Button Step. In the editor, check that you’ve added one or more buttons using the "+" button. If no buttons appear in the editor, they won’t show in your conversation.
• Confirm your button labels are set. If you're using variables for labels, double-check that these variables are correctly defined and populated.
• Ensure that for each added button, you see a corresponding port. These ports need to be connected to subsequent steps so that the conversation follows the correct path when a button is pressed.
• Check your project type. Button steps are designed for interactive (chat) experiences. If you’re using a Voice (audio) assistant, the buttons might not be rendered as expected.
• If you’re previewing your assistant externally (e.g., via a web embed), review any custom CSS or style settings that might be hiding the button elements.

There is already a bug ticket related to this issue. In that case, the buttons would not shown after a Prompt step (unless the page was reloaded).
@DrBanny , can you provide a video of your case as well? I can add this to the ticket.

for anyone still having issues with this - my buttons were placed after a prompt step and were showing intermittently or only after a page refresh. The solution for me was to switch my prompt step from using the deprecated 'Set AI' step to the new 'Set' step with a pre-saved prompt.

@erebor i used to have api blocks and extensions at the beginning of my flow, so i ended up switching up/organising blocks to reduce the complexity at the beginning of the flow
do you have any extensions or api blocks at the beginning of your flow
@bamelement @gillyb there are still issues with buttons not showing. This is a big deal for us and we need help with this. I noticed the buttons only show when i do multiple refreshes, this is not ideal as buttons are key in my workflow.
i've posted about this too still waiting for a fix from voiceflow.

I have a similar issue but not with buttons.
In my case it is a condition block leading to a "go to block" action.
The issue is that the "go to block" does not appear in the webchat. Nothing happens.
For context, I am using a custom action in the flow.
I also updated the webchat widget.

the client just sent this image about one of their paid users having issues "app is not progressing passed the question below. Its looping and repeated the same question 6 times after I answer “ yes”" thats a complaint from one of the paid users

this was working in old widget as well, and was working last week in new widget
and there are lots of buttons in the flow, so this is very urgent as users have paid to use this assistant
its not just this part, there are numerous ones as well where buttons are not showing @Braden i just checked the transcripts in debug mode and i can see lots of users having issues and experiencing the looping

@Braden I have brought this up like 10 times to the VF team.
been an issue for months / since the new web chat was released.

This was taken by another user who is facing issues with the buttons not showing. The users are not supposed to be typing here, but rather click the button to proceed. Similar flows has such buttons which are not showing

Waiting for all the bugs to be squashed. BTW, when I said I've seen this 10 times, it was more like 100, and it was from posts on Discord (I'm a Discord moderator).

That is a temporary solution of course.
I understood the voiceflow team is working on the issue, so it should be fixed.
Otherwise they need to postpone the depreciation of the legacy widget.

Just so you know @Braden , this has negatively impacted business, finances, and integrity for me and the client as people/organisations have already paid to use the assistant, i tried to replace all buttons with custom actions but issue was happening. Buttons were needed because i have set variables per the choice clicked. the flow already has more than 60 llms, the only viable solution is to use ai intent classification and conditional blocks to replace the buttons. That's I would need more than 50 llms in addition to fix this further going to increase ongoing cost to us. This button issue was brought up in March, until now, there has not been a fix. All users of my clients voiceflow chatbot are very displeased.
hey @DrBanny , sorry to hear this. Why would you need 50 more LLMs? We have been trying to isolate this issue but the challenge is we cannot consistently replicate it :/ we've pushed a few fixes now but it appears to be a deeply baked edge case that shows up a bunch of places

Its actually 85 buttons i had to replace. i just finished replacing them. You and team already have a copy of my vf file to verify this. In the image are the buttons i had to seclude away and replace with llms. thats 85 llms

eg. this is one of the removed buttons, where it has a descriptive text in the button so users know whats expected and can click their choice and move on to the next step. However this doesnt work now with the current state of buttons

to address the issue, i needed to rewrite the question, to make it descriptive in itself without the buttons, add an llm classifier, test its prompts, then add in conditional blocks

@Braden This is the case for all the remaining 84 llm intent classifiers which used to be buttons. So from the looks of it, apart from the 60 or so main llms, i would have to incur ongoing costs for the 85 llm intent classifiers. Organisations, gyms, individuals have paid to use the assistant so I cant simply use non-llm intents which may not be accurate most times due to nuances in human language. I tried custom actions to generate dynamic buttons but didn't work sometimes, i then invited a colleague vf expert to also test those custom actions and it worked initially, but not always, it also vanished like the native buttons.
if it helps debug at all @Braden - this issue happens most often for me when I am generating button label text via an LLM step. I then have a function set up which dynamically creates the button array using the LLM-generated labels and then returns a choice trace with the button-array passed in as a payload. It works some of the time, other times it does not (I'm thinking could be a timing issue?).
I have also tried just passing my LLM-generated labels straight into a 'Button' block, but the results are the same (sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't).
I have tried a few methods to fix it but nothing seems to work so far

My buttons is from choice with button. In voiceflow test shows buttons, but in the browser don't.

Im experiencing the same problem. I have an Agent in production where the buttons work correctly, but while developing new features and testing them in the dev environment on the same Agent, the buttons are not displaying. Im concerned that pushing these changes could break something in production. @Braden any updates on this? I also noticed refresing the page makes the buttons appear normally. In my case this only happens with buttons rendered by the "choice" custom actoin

Is the legacy widget still being deprecated on June 15?
An update has been rolled out to address this, is it still not working fo you @Julien?
@DrBanny did also discover that if you switch of 'streaming' for your ai response this resolved the problem.

@Steve B. | IntelleSync.ai I think now whether streaming is on or off, buttons do work.
From what I see in the transcripts, this has been resolved, however, I am awaiting concrete feedback from the client and her users about this.
